Simple and efficient

I like the app and use it often because its a simple and efficient quiz to work on memorization. However, i would really appreciate an update with options to control list of words due to study : either a leitner system, or simply something like "count as known after 5 correct answers". I use the app about every 2 days, and all the counters a reseted, then i learn all the time the same words and dont feel to progress. Except that its a nice app, fast and good in complementarity of a big kanji learning & dictionnary app

the best

perfect and complete thanks

Study without get bored!

Its really easy to used basically its a multiple choices exercise, you can improve in a really faster than using just books. Just there is no sound for how to pronounce (it for the price and huge around of word that understandable, so I leave 5 stars), but the is the kanji and kana writing which is great. I really improved my skill so thanks. And thanks your make two versions (iPad and iPhone), hope youll do it on the japanese 2000 app which is great too.

Very good but not great.

This is a very very good app and well worth the money. I found it easy to remember the meanings of the kanji, if not the readings. There should be a quiz for that too! Also, the multiple choice answers are just a random selection of other words/kanji from whatever level you are studying. It would be more helpful if the answers were similar sounding/looking, making it more challenging and difficult to guess. After all, that is how the questions will be presented in the actual JLPT exam.

Excellent App!

Is this the best app of its kind? It might be. I used it years ago while Studying Japanese and now I came back to it. I have yet to find a Japanese learning app that is so complete (that includes both Kanji and vocab), with such a simple straight-to-the-point design and easy/fast learning drilling method. Amazing app, thank you.

Enjoyable studying

I actually enjoyed studying with this one!

Not so polished

This app is not bad, but sometimes words or descriptions dont fit on the button or line and get cut off. A more standard App UI would be better.

Decent study tool.

Some of the words get cut off and some translations are vague. It would be nice to see sample sentences in the details tab for the vocab.

Decent but with a few errors

Just started playing/studying with this after first running through the free Level N5 version and figuring it was probably worth the ¥450 as a study aid. Going through Level N4 vocabulary Ive come across a few mistakes, such as 表 (omote) being listed in the program as table (eg Table 1), chart, list - when in fact it means surface or front. Overall, its not a bad app for studying with, although it would be nice if users could edit erroneous entries themselves.

Could be better

Was hoping it would be better. Example sentences would be good.

a few suggestions...

Ive had this app for a while now, and I think its great but... *If there was an option to only test words with kanji, and to completely erase the furigana or hiragana and kanji side by side, that would be really helpful. In Japan, its not like hiragana is next to every kanji you see, and it helps reinforce the reading too rather than being lazy and seeing it adjacent to the character. *And / or an option in settings to completely remove moji testing. I find that theres a lot of focus on moji but not on the actual MEANINGS of the words. *The only reason I dont want to update this app is because of the background. The plain grey one was much easier for me to see and the options were clearer. Other than that... I pretty much use this app daily, and I reccommend it to almost every person I know studying Japanese. I find it REALLY useful for studying, and the concise meanings make the words easier to absorb. If there was an option for 4.8 stars, Id definitely give it that.

Need copy or change to selectable text for dictionary

The first I think this app is very good for learning jlpt Japanese vocabulary. But Im Vietnamese so English meaning is not my mother language. I want to copy or select the meaning text to translate to my mother language. Better than i want to this app can modify the meaning text.

still awful...a rip off

The definitions are totally insufficient with no example sentences...YOU CANNOT EFFECTIVELY LEARN NEW VOCABULARY WITHOUT EXAMPLE SENTENCES. Just not enough effort has gone into producing this. "detail" for the kanjis gives no stroke order or "bushu" breakdown.

Good!

This is really good, but the kanji are presented in the same order ever! If I turn off the iPhone, I have to repeat all over the list of kanji to cntinue with new ones!

Fantastic Application!

Im not preparing Jlpt but Im learning to read Japanese and with the Kanji focus on I can just concentrate on the shape and look of the compounds to be more and more rapid and confortable while reading real texts. It will be perfect when and while in the vocabulary mode the "detail" tab will be enriched with an example phrase to help understand the word in its context and thus master it. Thanks again for this great application!

Needs added customizability and interface redesign

Yup

Good!!!

I really like this software... One of the best JLPT study software I bought... Before I liked Japanese flip I was wondering can you put a timer mode? That way it focuses me to read faster. Also on the vocabulary mode it would be cool if there was a option for us not to see the English definition so kanji = hiragana. That would be cool for us after we level up. Anyways, I really think this is the best software so far on the iPod!

This is good review

This app is good review. However, I find it too easy to guess when I dont know what a word is. It would be nice if when asking for a verb the only options were verbs. Its too easy to pick the one that ends in る. The same with numbers and other easily deduced words.

Great study guide

This is the best study app I have ever used, all I wanted was something like flash cards, but with this I also get a little quiz over thousands of different kanji and even more vocabulary, this app is very informative, my only suggestion to the editor is that while studying kanji allow the user to use the quick study on all the kanji set as if you were going into the quick review on vocabulary, this would make for a great update cause I love that quick review feature and it would be nice to use it even after I pass it on the study all in all this app gets 2 thumbs up and four stars (Ill write a review based on each update as I use them so keep on coming with those updates :D !)

Good

If I see kanji, pron, and 4 possible answers, I can usually guess 95% correct. So after a few rounds, I say the answer without looking at the 4 solutions, and if thats not in the list, I pick the one least likely to be correct. A couple of issues with the lack of detail in the details and no vocal usage examples. Easy enough to do on the bus, during lunch...
